Good Morning Friends,
There are some things worth sacrificing for.
Solomon said, “Wisdom is supreme; therefore
get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.” (Proverbs 4:7)
Really understanding life -- how it works,
what it means, what’s important, what’s not important – that’s what wisdom is.
Wisdom is worth sacrificing for!
Jesus told a couple of parables that made the
same point.
The first is about a hidden treasure. “The
kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he
hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that
field.” (Matthew 13:44)
The second is about a pearl of great value. “Again,
the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found
one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.”
(Matthew 13:45-46)
Both parables say that there are some things
-- at least one thing – worth sacrificing for, worth giving up everything to
have.
The one thing is wisdom. Wisdom is knowing
God, holding Him in awe, arranging our lives according to His plan.
That’s worth sacrificing everything to have!
