Good Morning Friends,
Jesus told this parable, “A farmer went out to
sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the
birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much
soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were
scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up
and choked the plants. Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a
crop -- a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.” (Matthew 13:3-8)
What kind of soil are you for the things of
God?
That’s not a question about how much of God’s
Word you know. It’s not a question of how religious you are. It’s a question
about whether or not you are allowing God’s work in your life to produce the
fruit He desires.
The work of God is about life change and about
God being able to touch the lives of others through us.
The marvelous thing is that it is not something
that we do, but a work that God does in us and through us. Paul declared, “It
is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.”
(Philippians 2:13)
We have the capacity to keep God from being
able to do what He desires through us. A hard heart, a life focused on trouble and
problems, a life focused on the cares of this world can hinder what God desires
to do in us and through us.
The work of God is a powerful seed that can
accomplish a great deal in our lives and through us, in the lives of others. What
kind of soil are you for His seed?
His, by Grace, Steve
