Good Morning Friends,
“Return, O Israel, to the LORD your God. Your
sins have been your downfall! Take words with you and return to the LORD. Say
to him: 'Forgive all our sins and receive us graciously, that we may offer the
fruit of our lips. Assyria cannot save us; we will not mount war-horses. We
will never again say ‘Our gods’ to what our own hands have made, for in you the
fatherless find compassion. I will heal their waywardness and love them freely,
for my anger has turned away from them.” (Hosea 14:1-4)
The sincere words of your mouth can make a
huge impact upon your life.
Jesus taught that the mouth reflects what is
in your heart, “For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks.”
(Matthew 12:34)
Paul told the Romans that the mouth was an
essential part of salvation, “That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is
Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be
saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is
with your mouth that you confess and are saved.” (Romans 10:9-10)
James said that the mouth is the hardest part
of the body to control, “We all stumble in many ways. If anyone is never at
fault in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to keep his whole body in
check.” (James 3:2)
John wrote that confession was a key to
forgiveness, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive
us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)
“Take words with you and return to the Lord.”
That was Hosea’s advice – God’s challenge to His people.
It’s so easy to use our mouths for destructive
purposes. Let’s choose to use it for something good!
His, by Grace,
Steve
