Good Morning Friends,
“Anyone who believes in the Son of God has
this testimony in his heart. Anyone who does not believe God has made him out
to be a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has given about his
Son. And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is
in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God
does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the
Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.” (1 John 5:10-13)
If you died today, would you go to heaven?
If you answered, “I sure hope so,” that’s not
a very good answer. It’s not the answer that God wants you to have to that
question. God wants you to know for sure that you have eternal life. John wrote
this little letter to those who were already believers so they would know they
had eternal life, so there would be no doubt about it.
And where does that kind of assurance come
from? It comes from just one place. It comes from knowing what you’ve done with
Jesus Christ. You see, if you have a relationship with Jesus Christ, you have
eternal life, with certainty. If you don’t have a relationship with Jesus
Christ, you don’t have eternal life, that’s also certain. It’s all in what
you’ve done with Jesus.
Do you believe in Jesus as God’s Son and
provision for your salvation? Do you love Jesus? Do you follow Jesus? Do you
trust Jesus?
Those are the marks of a relationship with
Him. There is no “I hope so” in that relationship. There’s only certainty!
His, by Grace,
Steve
